We are seeking a Director of Cloud Engineering to lead our multicloud strategy and engineering organization within Pfizer Digital. This role operates on a global scale, driving cloud modernization, platform reliability, and engineering innovation that supports Pfizer’s mission of delivering breakthroughs that change patients’ lives. The Director of Cloud Engineering is a strategic technical leader responsible for shaping cloud architecture direction, evolving engineering practices, and ensuring our cloud platforms remain secure, compliant, scalable, and efficient. The ideal candidate brings deep multicloud expertise, proven experience leading highperforming engineering teams, and the ability to influence across a large, complex, matrixed enterprise. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership & Vision <ul><li>Define, evolve, and communicate Pfizer’s multi-cloud engineering strategy and roadmap. </li></ul><ul><li>Partner with security, engineering, and business leaders to align cloud capabilities with enterprise objectives. </li></ul><ul><li>Lead the adoption of modern cloud-native architectures and engineering patterns across Pfizer Digital. </li></ul> Team & Organizational Leadership <ul><li>Lead and develop multiple teams of cloud engineers, technical leads </li></ul><ul><li>Build a culture of innovation, learning, accountability, and engineering excellence. </li></ul><ul><li>Mentor senior engineers and emerging leaders, growing the next generation of technical talent. </li></ul> Technical Ownership & Architecture <ul><li>Oversee the design and governance of standards for multi-cloud infrastructure, including networking, security, identity, observability, and platform automation. </li></ul> <ul><li>Drive consistent adoption of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Python) and platform automation via Spacelift or equivalent tooling. </li></ul> <ul><li>Establish reusable cloud design patterns and reference architectures that accelerate product teams and reduce technical debt. </li></ul> Operational Excellence & Security <ul><li>Maintain a secure, compliant, and resilient hosting environment supporting business-critical systems. </li></ul><ul><li>Collaborate with SRE, security, and operations teams to enhance reliability, performance, and cloud posture. </li></ul><ul><li>Serve as senior escalation point for highimpact cloud incidents (minimal handson operational work). </li></ul> Innovation & Continuous Improvement <ul><li>Stay ahead of emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to drive platform modernization. </li></ul><ul><li>Champion automation-first approaches, improving delivery speed, repeatability, and consistency. </li></ul><ul><li>Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering, architecture, and operations. </li></ul> Cross-Functional Collaboration <ul><li>Work with global engineering, application development, cybersecurity, and compliance teams to deliver seamless endtoend cloud capabilities. </li></ul><ul><li>Support business units and product teams in adopting bestpractice cloud architectures and cloudnative services. </li></ul><ul><li>Represent Cloud Services in architecture forums, governance councils, and strategic investment discussions. </li></ul> BASIC QUALIFICATIONS <ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent experience. </li></ul><ul><li>10–15+ years of experience in cloud or software engineering, platform architecture, or infrastructure leadership roles. </li></ul><ul><li>At least 5 years leading multiple engineering teams or large, complex technical organizations. </li></ul><ul><li>Deep expertise across at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) with strong multi-cloud familiarity. </li></ul><ul><li>Expert-level experience designing and deploying infrastructure using IaC tools. </li></ul><ul><li>Strong programming and automation experience (Python preferred). </li></ul><ul><li>Proven track record influencing across large matrixed organizations. </li></ul><ul><li>Strong leadership capabilities, with experience coaching and developing senior engineers. </li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrated ability to set priorities, define long-term strategy, and deliver highvalue outcomes. </li></ul><ul><li>Customercentric mindset with the ability to align cloud capabilities to business needs. </li></ul> PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS <ul><li>Multi-cloud architectural experience across AWS, Azure, and GCP. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience defining enterprise cloud standards and governance frameworks. </li></ul><ul><li>Expertise with Spacelift or similar IaC automation platforms. </li></ul><ul><li>Contributions to open-source cloud or infrastructure tooling. </li></ul><ul><li>Advanced cloud certifications (AWS SAPro, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert). </li></ul><ul><li>Experience working in global organizations with distributed engineering teams. </li></ul>   Work Location Assignment: Hybrid <div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div>Purpose Breakthroughs that change patients' lives...
