The Senior Data Management & Governance Specialist is a data-minded professional preferable with IT business operations and IT strategy & portfolio experience..
In this role, you're excited about using data governance and quality foundations to unlock the next generation of IT maturity: agentic AI, intelligent automation, and data-driven IT decision-making.
The position involves actively managing data assets, ensuring data quality, lineage, and metadata accuracy, and supporting data stewardship programs. You will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to define data definitions, resolve data issues, and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, contributing significantly to a trusted and well-managed data environment.
Job Responsibilities
Scope / (Content Leadership):
Leads, develops, and enforces data governance policies aligned with IT4IT value streams. Works independently on specific governance projects to ensure organizational alignment and data integrity.
Accountability/Problem Solving:
Develop Data Standards and data models for critical IT data entities across the IT4IT value streams.
Diagnose root cause of poor data quality in IT operations.
Implement proactive data quality frameworks following Enterprise Data Strategy guidelines.
Stakeholder Management:
Collaborates extensively with various departments to ensure compliance. Communicates effectively and clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to build trust and alignment.
Impact/Strategy:
Handles big-sized data governance projects. Develops and executes strategies that significantly improve data quality and overall organizational compliance.
Align data governance with agentic AI readiness: Define data quality, trust, and compliance standards.
Complexity / (Product Size):
Oversees more complex data governance systems. Ensures critical data integrity and security across multiple business units.
Create data lineage and ownership maps for IT operations data across the IT4IT system landscape, establishing clear accountability for data quality and currency.
Manage data governance across complex IT operations ecosystems including ServiceNow, Data Warehouses, monitoring platforms, asset management tools, and emerging automation/AI systems
Business / Technical ability:
Applies high proficiency in data management tools and practices. Demonstrates and leverages a strong, comprehensive knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations to safeguard data assets.
Apply knowledge of IT service management frameworks (e.g. IT4IT) to contextualize governance within ITSM processes.
Qualifications
Education / Experience
Data-first mindset
Demonstrated experience handling big-sized data governance projects and overseeing complex data governance systems.
Proven track record of independently leading, developing, and enforcing data governance policies and standards across multiple business units.
Experience actively managing data assets, ensuring data quality, lineage, and metadata accuracy.
Familiarity with IT4IT framework and Common Service Data Model (CSDM) - strongly preferred
Technical / Business Skills
Proficiency in utilizing data management tools and implementing data stewardship practices.
Strong, in-depth knowledge of data privacy laws, regulatory requirements, and compliance standards.
Understanding of IT service management frameworks: ITIL, IT4IT, or equivalent; ability to map governance requirements to ITSM value streams.
Additional Qualifications
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex governance requirements for both technical teams and non-technical business leaders.
Strong collaborative mindset to work closely with various departments to define data definitions, resolve data issues, and ensure strict compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Ability to see data governance for IT operations as an investment in enterprise IT strategy, not just a compliance requirement.
Experience with data quality tools or master data management (MDM) platforms
