Dangerous Goods Transport Coordinator

     

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Are you an experienced transport and logistics professional with strong Dangerous Goods (DG) expertise? We're looking for a Dangerous Goods Transport Coordinator to join our team in a unique dual-role position combining operational transport coordination with ownership of Dangerous Goods compliance.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing hands-on logistics operations with regulatory responsibility and stakeholder management in an international environment.

Location: Machelen, Belgium. Office based position.

 

About the role

As our Dangerous Goods Transport Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and compliant shipment of products across our global network.

What makes this position unique is its combination of two key areas of responsibility:

• Day-to-day transport coordination and export operations
• Ownership and coordination of Dangerous Goods compliance activities

You will work closely with Customer Service teams, warehouse personnel, freight forwarders, carriers, and internal stakeholders to ensure shipments are delivered efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with international regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Transport Coordination

• Coordinate and book export shipments with freight forwarders and carriers.
• Prepare and maintain shipping, export, customs, and transport documentation.
• Monitor and track shipments and proactively follow up on deliveries.
• Resolve issues related to delayed, damaged, or lost shipments.
• Support Customer Service teams with transportation-related requests.
• Ensure all shipping documentation, invoices, and records are complete and accurate.
• Verify transportation requirements, labels, and shipment information prior to dispatch.

Dangerous Goods Compliance

• Act as the local Dangerous Goods subject matter expert.
• Ensure compliance with international Dangerous Goods regulations, including IATA requirements and applicable road transport regulations.
• Manage and maintain local DG procedures and programs.
• Coordinate Dangerous Goods training activities for warehouse and logistics employees.
• Ensure all relevant employees maintain valid DG certifications and required refresher training.
• Support audits and inspections related to Dangerous Goods transportation.
• Identify compliance gaps and drive corrective actions.
• Maintain DG-related data and processes in SAP and other logistics systems.
• Ensure local processes remain aligned with global DG requirements and standards.

 

Who You Are

We're looking for an experienced professional who is comfortable combining operational logistics responsibilities with Dangerous Goods expertise.

You will ideally bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Transportation & Expedition is preferred
• 3-5 years of experience within transport, logistics, export coordination, or supply chain operations.
• Proven Dangerous Goods experience.
• Valid IATA Dangerous Goods certification.
• Strong knowledge of international transportation and compliance requirements.
• SAP experience is highly desirable.
• Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken.
