<p>At Bavarian Nordic, we are driven by one powerful mission — to protect and save lives through innovative vaccines.</p><p></p><p>Every team member plays a vital role in ensuring the quality, safety, and security of our products and our people.</p><p></p><p>As we continue to expand our global production capabilities, we are now looking for a Containment Engineer to join our dedicated Biorisk Management (BRM) team.</p><p></p><p><b>Containment Engineer – High-Containment Manufacturing</b></p><p>We are recruiting a Containment Engineer for a newly created role that offers a rare opportunity to take hands-on ownership of containment engineering at a high-containment manufacturing facility.</p><p></p><p>As Containment Engineer, you will work directly with high-containment equipment, utilities, and facilities, ensuring that containment systems are designed, installed, tested, and operated safely and in compliance with biosafety, biosecurity, and GMP requirements. Rather than focusing solely on governance, this position places you close to the shop floor, working side-by-side with engineering, operations, and external suppliers.</p><p></p><p>Operating at the intersection of biosafety and engineering, you will play a key role in shaping how containment is implemented in day-to-day manufacturing. Your work will directly support safe vaccine production and contribute to building a strong, practical containment and risk management culture across the site.</p><p></p><p>This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being close to equipment, solving real-world containment challenges, and influencing how systems perform in operation within a global biotech environment.</p><p></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>Take hands-on responsibility for integrating biosafety and containment principles into engineering designs, equipment installation, and daily operations.</li><li>Perform and support biorisk assessments for new and existing equipment, processes, and facility changes, ensuring containment is practically and effectively implemented.</li><li>Work directly with stainless-steel bioprocess systems, including bioreactors, CIP/SIP units, transfer systems, and filtration skids, to ensure containment requirements are embedded in design and operation.</li><li>Actively participate in commissioning, qualification, and validation activities (FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ), including on-site testing, witnessing, and troubleshooting containment-related issues.</li><li>Support testing, monitoring, and maintenance of critical containment systems such as HVAC, HEPA filtration, pressure cascades, airlocks, decontamination units, and waste inactivation systems.</li><li>Collaborate closely with engineering, R&amp;D, production, EHS, and quality teams to develop and implement risk-based containment solutions that work in practice.</li><li>Contribute to training and coaching colleagues on containment engineering, biosafety controls, and safe operational practices.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>About You</b></p><p>You are a practically minded engineer with a strong technical foundation and a genuine interest in biosafety and containment. You enjoy working close to equipment and facilities, are comfortable spending time in production and technical areas, and take ownership of issues from identification through to resolution. You thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional environment and are motivated by making a visible impact on health and safety.</p><p></p><p><b>Qualifications and Competencies</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biosafety Engineering, or a related field</li><li>Experience from the pharmaceutical or biomanufacturing industry, preferably within vaccine production</li><li>Solid, practical understanding of biosafety risk assessment, containment strategies, and GMP environments</li><li>Experience with stainless-steel process equipment and cleanroom operations</li><li>Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Preferred Skills</b></p><ul><li>Hands-on experience with automated CIP/SIP systems and aseptic processing</li><li>Direct involvement in commissioning, qualification, and validation in GMP or high-containment environments</li><li>Experience with HVAC and HEPA testing, pressure cascade verification, and airflow management</li><li>Familiarity with physical security system integration (access control, CCTV, intrusion detection)</li><li>Project experience and/or certification in commissioning or validation (ISPE C&amp;Q, NEBB)</li><li>Fluent in English; Danish proficiency is an advantage</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Why Join Us?</b></p><p>At Bavarian Nordic, you’ll be part of a purpose-driven company where your work directly contributes to global health.
