To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Commodity Analyst located in Batu Kawan, Penang.
Responsible for development, execution, and pricing of procurement risk strategies for Flex.
What a typical day looks like:
Execute commodity sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives and organizational priorities.
Support localization initiatives while enabling global sourcing expansion to enhance supply resilience and competitiveness.
Mitigate risks related to commodity price fluctuation through market analysis, forecasting, and sourcing strategies.
Identify, evaluate, and develop existing and new suppliers in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Lead procurement contract negotiations, including Commercial Agreements and NDA
Drive cost reduction initiatives through comprehensive cost analysis, market data evaluation, internal price benchmarking, and effective negotiation.
Identify supplier-related risks, opportunities, and underperformance, and develop corrective or improvement action plans.
Strengthen supplier management and sourcing strategies to improve performance, quality, cost, and delivery.
Support successful sourcing execution for new potential business opportunities and NPI activities.
Perform general reporting and analysis activities for score carding of suppliers.
Increase supplier managed inventory / replenishment program, reduced lead-time and electronic data interface penetration
Identify, implement and drive actions for Purchase Price Variance (PPV) optimization
Main Skill Set
Commodity & Market Knowledge
Direct materials: metals (steel, aluminum, copper), resins, components, stamping parts, Packaging (Plastic bag, Pallet, Carton)
Cost drivers: raw material index, energy cost, labor, logistics, currency (MYR/USD is very relevant)
Market dynamics: supply–demand, geopolitical impact, capacity constraints, regional sourcing differences

Variance analysis: Forecast vs Actual vs Prior Quarter
Currency impact analysis (UPPV& PPV)

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in related field with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience, preferably in electronics manufacturing (EMS).
Possess technical knowledge and fundamental assessment in the Electrical and Electronics market.
Able to analyze quotations, negotiate and communicate effectively with suppliers.
Able to work independently within a team.
