<p style="text-align:left"><b>Work Schedule</b></p>Standard (Mon-Fri)<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><b>Environmental Conditions</b></p>Office<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><b><u>Job Description</u></b></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p>Thermo Fisher Scientific&#39;s Ion Chromatography and Sample Preparation (ICSP) team is seeking a <b>C#/C&#43;&#43; Engineer </b>to contribute to the development of next-generation ion chromatography laboratory instruments.</p><p></p><p><b>This role is part of a strategic NPI (New Product Introduction) initiative focused on developing a new generation platform for chromatographic instruments.</b> This is not about maintaining or incrementally improving existing solutions, but a complete redesign of a system currently built on approximately 15-year-old electronics.</p><p></p><p>The goal is to create a modern, scalable platform by leveraging new technologies to significantly improve performance, functionality, and overall system architecture. The work involves developing backend components for embedded user interfaces (eUI), enabling robust communication, control, and data handling for high-precision analytical instruments.</p><p></p><p>This is a <b>multi-year program</b>, offering long-term stability and the opportunity to contribute across multiple phases of development—from early architecture through to commercialization.</p><p></p><h2><span><b>What will you do?</b></span></h2><p></p><p>You will design and develop backend software components for embedded systems, contributing to scalable, secure, and maintainable software architecture.</p><p></p><h3><u><span><b>Backend Development &amp; Architecture</b></span></u></h3><ul><li>Design, develop, and maintain <b>backend components</b> for embedded UI systems using modern C# (primary) and/or C&#43;&#43;</li><li>Apply object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and strong data structures to build maintainable solutions</li><li>Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making</li></ul><p></p><h3><u><span><b>System Integration &amp; Collaboration</b></span></u></h3><ul><li>Collaborate with architects, firmware, DevOps, and test engineers to deliver integrated software solutions</li><li>Translate complex technical and scientific requirements into robust implementations</li><li>Support integration across embedded, firmware, and higher-level application layers</li></ul><p></p><h3><u><span><b>Quality, Security &amp; DevOps</b></span></u></h3><ul><li>Implement <b>automated testing strategies</b> and practice test-driven development</li><li>Support CI/CD pipelines and follow modern DevOps practices for build, integration, and deployment</li><li>Ensure <b>secure coding practices</b> aligned with regulatory and cybersecurity requirements</li></ul><p></p><h3><u><span><b>Delivery &amp; Continuous Improvement</b></span></u></h3><ul><li>Participate in agile development processes (including SAFe where applicable)</li><li>Work independently on complex problems while supporting and mentoring less experienced engineers</li><li>Contribute to continuous improvement of code quality, development processes, and tooling</li></ul><p></p><h3><u><span><b>Innovation &amp; Productivity</b></span></u></h3><ul><li>Leverage modern tools, including <b>AI-assisted development</b>, to improve speed, quality, and knowledge sharing</li></ul><p></p><h2><span><b>Qualifications &amp; Skills</b></span></h2><ul><li>Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)</li><li>Strong experience in <b>backend software development</b> (C# preferred; C&#43;&#43;/Python also relevant)</li><li>Solid understanding of <b>object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms</b></li><li>Experience developing <b>modular, maintainable, and scalable software systems</b></li><li>Experience with <b>version control systems</b> (e.g., Git) and modern development workflows</li><li>Familiarity with <b>CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices</b></li><li>Experience working in <b>agile development environments</b> (SAFe is a plus)</li><li>Understanding of <b>distributed systems or embedded environments</b> is an advantage</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to handle complex requirements</li><li>Strong communication skills in English</li><li>Interest in leveraging <b>AI-assisted development tools</b> to improve productivity and quality</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p>
