− The BDS will be is responsible for conference and event preparation with the goal of increasing the number and quality of meetings held with target customers at conferences, attending local and regional conferences, and supporting roadshow preparations. This position will work closely with the Global INB and SPM Business Development Managers/Technical Sales.
− The Business Development Specialist (BDS) is responsible for executing prospecting activities and converting qualified prospects into leads for follow-up by Business Development Managers. This role works closely with the Marketing Intelligence team and BD Managers to develop a strong understanding of the biotech ecosystems within key biotech hubs.
− The BDS will also collaborate with Technical Sales (proposal managers and technical specialists) and Commercial Development to accurately communicate Lonza’s technologies and value propositions.
− A core focus of the role is identifying and engaging new companies and consultants through conferences, trade shows, local social media channels, phone outreach, and email prospecting.
− The objective is to establish connections with target accounts, increase awareness of Lonza’s INB and SPM capabilities, and build a robust funnel of new leads and opportunities for BD Managers in the region.
− In addition, the BDS will support conference, trade show, and marketing event preparations. This includes reviewing and prioritizing target lists with BD colleagues, coordinating outreach for partnering meetings, and attending conferences as needed.
Key Responsibilities
− Conduct in-depth desk research on potential target customers (in collaboration with Market Intelligence)
− Execute prospecting and initial outreach to target customers and consultants
− Follow up on marketing-generated prospects
− Convert qualified prospects into actionable leads for Business Development Managers
− Collaborate with internal teams—including Technical Sales, Commercial Development, and Licensing—to ensure alignment on technologies and value propositions
− Support conference and trade show preparations, including booth responsibilities
− Generate leads through conferences, trade shows, databases (e.g., DXY for new
funding or BD deals), local social media, and other channels
− Other tasks assigned by line managers
Qualifications
− Degree : Bachelor or above
− Field of Study Biologics, Biochemistry
− 3–5 years of experience in Technical Sales/Sales, Research & Development
− Fluency in English, written and spoken are required
− Ability to coordinate.
