To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Backup Administrator - IT in Chennai, India.
What a Typical Day Looks Like
Manage, monitor, and maintain the Veeam Backup & Replication environment, ensuring successful job completion and resolving failures promptly.
Perform daily health checks of backup infrastructure, storage repositories, proxies, and backup servers.
Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot backup and replication jobs across physical and virtual environments (VMware / Hyper-V).
Execute periodic restore tests, including file-level, VM-level, and application-level recoveries to validate DR readiness.
Identify performance bottlenecks and improve backup job efficiency, retention policies, and storage utilization.
Collaborate with server, storage, virtualization, and network teams to ensure seamless integration of backup workloads.
Implement and maintain backup policies, schedules, documentation, and security controls.
Manage offsite backups, cloud repository sync, and replication to DR sites.
Provide support during incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
Participate in periodic audits, compliance reviews, and capacity planning activities.
Automate backup tasks where possible using PowerShell or REST APIs.
Stay updated with Veeam features, patches, and best practices; apply updates and upgrades when required.
The Experience We’re Looking to Add to Our Team
3 to 7 years of hands-on experience administering Veeam Backup & Replication in medium to large IT environments.
Strong understanding of backup concepts, retention policies, GFS, immutable backups, replication, SureBackup, and Instant Recovery.
Experience working with VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel) and repository management.
Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Linux-based backup repositories.
Familiarity with cloud backup integrations (Azure, AWS, S3-compatible storage) is a plus.
Ability to perform file-level, application-aware, and full VM restores.
Good understanding of network fundamentals as they apply to backup and replication flows.
Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting for automation (nice-to-have).
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to respond to production incidents under pressure.
Excellent documentation practices and communication skills.
Relevant certifications such as Veeam VMCE, VMware VCP, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE are an added advantage.
