Associate Director, Early Patient Engagement & Professional Societies

General Description:

The Associate Director, Early Patient Engagement & Professional Societies, will play a key role in advancing early patient engagement, patient insights and patient evidence generation, across our priority therapeutic areas and pipeline programs. This role will ensure that patient perspectives are systematically integrated early into medical strategy, clinical development, evidence generation, patient centered trial engagement, patient education, trial awareness, and systematically incorporate patient insights into our drug development.

The successful candidate will be a strong collaborator and self-starter, partnering closely with Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Scientific Communications, Legal/Compliance, Corporate Communication and external stakeholders to support compliant, insight-driven patient engagement and professional society initiatives.

This position is remote based in the United States, with travel required for internal meetings, patient advisory boards, professional society meetings, advisory activities, and priority congresses.

 

Essential Job Functions: 

Patient Evidence Generation 

·       Support patient evidence generation plans across priority assets, including patient preference, burden of disease, patient experience, unmet need, outcomes, and plain-language evidence initiatives.

·       Partner with cross-functional teams to identify patient evidence gaps and prioritize evidence-generation activities aligned to portfolio needs

·       Contribute to patient insight narratives, evidence summaries, and materials that support regulatory, payer, health technology assessment, and launch-readiness objectives.

·       Monitor evolving external expectations related to patient experience data, patient-focused drug development, and health technology assessment requirements.

Patient Engagement and Patient Insights

·       Support patient engagement activities that generate actionable insights to inform medical strategy, clinical development, evidence planning, and launch readiness.

·       Plan and execute patient advisory boards, patient organization engagements, listening sessions, and other structured insight-generation activities.

·       Translate patient and caregiver insights into clear recommendations for internal stakeholders.

·       Support the integration of patient perspectives into trial design, recruitment and retention strategies, patient-facing materials, and burden-reduction approaches.

·       Ensure patient engagement activities are conducted in a compliant, ethical, and patient-centered manner.

Professional Societies and External Engagement

·       Support strategic engagement with priority professional societies, medical associations, and external experts.

·       Assist in planning and executing professional society-related initiatives, sponsorships, collaborations.

·       Ensure all external engagements are planned and executed in accordance with company policies, applicable laws, regulations, and compliance standards.

Cross-Functional Leadership and Operations

·       Serve as a cross-functional partner across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Legal/Compliance, Corporate Communications, and external partners.

·       Manage timelines, workplans, budgets, vendors, agencies, and project trackers.

·       Prepare executive-ready updates, decision points, risk flags, and recommendations for leadership.

·       Contribute to annual planning, budget development, portfolio prioritization, and operational excellence across EPEPS.

 

Required Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree required

·       7 years+ years of relevant patient engagement expertise in the pharmaceutical/ biotech sector and patient organization non-profit.

·       Oncology and/or hematology experience strongly preferred.

·       Expertise in global, regional best practices working with patient organizations.

·       Experience supporting and executing global early patient engagement strategies.

·       Experience in early patient engagement, patient advocacy, professional societies, medical affairs, clinical development, health outcomes, and external stakeholder engagement.

·       Strong understanding of pharmaceutical development and the role of patient insights in clinical development, evidence generation, and regulatory readiness.

·       Experience working with patient organizations, external experts, vendors, and cross-functional internal stakeholders.

·       Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, timelines, budgets, agencies, and deliverables in a matrixed environment.

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to develop executive-ready materials and plain-language patient-facing content.

·       Strong digital fluency, ability to leverage technology, digital platforms and emerging tools to enhance patient engagement, collaboration and operational efficiency.

·       High level of judgment, integrity, and compliance awareness.

·       Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and operate effectively across global, regional, and local teams.

Computer Skills:   

·       Microsoft Teams, Smartsheets, Digital fluency

Travel:

·       Ability to travel domestically 25% and internationally as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position will not be responsible for management of direct reports. However, it will require significant agency management, and cross-functional team leadership.

Salary Range: $145,200.00 - $195,200.00 annually

BeOne is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Actual compensation packages are determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location. Packages may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor. The recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for a preferred location during the hiring process.  Please note that the listed range reflects the base salary or hourly range only. Non-Commercial roles are eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan, and Commercial roles are eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
