Description

The successful candidate will manage a team of scientists working in early discovery and development through IND. Responsible for championing innovative scientific and technical strategies to deliver differentiated therapeutics that enable novel mechanisms to be fully tested in early clinical development. Leverage understanding of target biology to inform optimal disease indication. Exhibits significant learning agility to build deep mechanistic knowledge around disease biology and translational clinical development plans. Manages investment risk in individual projects through early identification of key questions and development of clear decision-making experimental plans to build confidence in the biology, pharmacology and safety of the approach. Lead a team of scientists on experimental design, execution, data analysis and interpretation. Manage key strategic and/or collaborative projects with external CROs and academic collaborators. Work closely with the medicinal chemistry and biologic teams. Author, edit, review and approve study reports and regulatory submissions from Pre-IND submission through early phase clinical trials.

Requirements

PhD in Metabolism, Inflammation, Immunology or related field with 7+ years post-degree experience. Minimum of 3-5 years drug discovery and development expertise in Biotech or Pharmaceutical company. Demonstrated experience in translational human biology and translational animal model development and validation. Demonstrated success in leading preclinical to clinical translational plans from program inception through IND. Proven scientific leadership expertise working in matrix teams, managing collaborations, people/projects. Ability to thrive and work in a dynamic start-up environment. Excellent communication, organization, multi-tasking, flexibility, and team skills.
