Join Illumina Digital Services (IDS) and help build AI-powered applications, platforms, and experiences that enable productivity, automation, insights, and decision-making across the enterprise.

Working alongside experienced engineers, architects, product teams, and AI specialists, you will gain hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI platforms, and modern engineering practices while building a strong foundation for a career in AI Engineering.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This role follows Illumina's hybrid work model and requires employees to work from the office a minimum of three days per week.
 • Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders on enterprise-scale AI solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Build, test, deploy, and support AI-powered applications, workflows, and services.
 • Develop and improve prompt workflows, retrieval pipelines, RAG solutions, and AI application components.
 • Integrate AI models, APIs, data sources, and enterprise systems to solve business problems.
 • Evaluate model performance, identify improvement opportunities, and enhance solution quality and user experience.
 • Monitor AI applications, troubleshoot issues, and support reliable production operations.
 • Apply engineering best practices for testing, security, version control, documentation, and operational excellence.
 • Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to deliver practical AI solutions.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We recognize that candidates may not have experience with every technology listed. We value curiosity, learning agility, problem-solving ability, and practical application demonstrated through academic projects, internships, hackathons, open-source contributions, research, or independent learning.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
 • Foundational programming skills using Python and familiarity with software development fundamentals.
 • Understanding of APIs, databases, cloud concepts, and modern application development practices.
 • Exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs) through coursework, projects, internships, hackathons, research, or independent learning.
 • Familiarity with concepts such as prompt engineering, embeddings, retrieval systems, or AI agents.
 • Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
 • Demonstrated ownership, adaptability, integrity, and commitment to continuous learning.

Preferred Exposure

Exposure through coursework, projects, internships, certifications, hackathons, research, or personal learning to one or more of the following is a plus:

• LLM platforms, AI frameworks, RAG solutions, vector databases, embeddings, or AI evaluation tools.
 • Cloud platforms, modern software engineering practices, containers, CI/CD, or API development.
 • AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar technologies.
