Account Manager, Molecular Spectroscopy

Job Summary

• Location: South Korea (Nationwide coverage; approximately 60% of customer coverage concentrated in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Daejeon)

• Portfolio: Molecular Spectroscopy – FTIR, NIR, Raman, and related spectroscopy solutions

• Primary Market: Chemical and industrial customers, universities, and government research institutes, with particular focus on customers involved in AI, semiconductor, and advanced materials research

• Role Focus: Direct sales and account management, including territory/account planning, new business development, key account management, and full sales-cycle ownership from opportunity identification through proposal, negotiation, and closing

• Customer Coverage: Experience managing customers across the chemical industry, academia, and government research institutions is preferred

• English: Intermediate or lower-intermediate working proficiency or above

DESCRIPTION:

Join our commercial team as an Account Manager, Molecular Spectroscopy, responsible for driving growth of our molecular spectroscopy portfolio, including FTIR, NIR, and Raman solutions, across South Korea. You will build strong customer relationships and identify new business opportunities across key markets, including the chemical industry, universities, and government research institutions.

In this role, you will develop and execute territory and account strategies, identify new applications and growth opportunities, and manage the full sales cycle from opportunity identification and technical solution positioning through proposal development, negotiation, and closing. You will combine strong commercial capabilities with an understanding of customer applications to recommend solutions that address their analytical and research needs.

Working closely with application scientists, service, marketing, and other cross-functional teams, you will serve as a trusted advisor to customers while building a sustainable sales pipeline and achieving business growth and sales targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Drive sales growth of FTIR, NIR, and Raman spectroscopy solutions across South Korea.
• Develop and execute territory and account strategies to achieve sales targets and sustainable business growth.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and decision-makers across a broad range of markets, with particular focus on chemical industries, universities, and government research institutions.
• Identify and develop new customers, applications, and business opportunities for molecular spectroscopy solutions.
• Manage the full sales cycle, including prospecting, opportunity qualification, technical solution positioning, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
• Understand customer research, analytical, and application requirements and position appropriate solutions to address their needs.
• Collaborate closely with application scientists, service, marketing, and other cross-functional teams to deliver effective customer solutions.
• Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and forecast using CRM tools and established sales processes.
• Monitor market trends, competitive activities, and emerging applications to identify new growth opportunities.
• Represent Thermo Fisher Scientific at customer meetings, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, and other industry events as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Analytical Science, or a related scientific or engineering discipline.
• 8+ years of relevant commercial experience in scientific instrumentation, analytical technologies, spectroscopy, or related technical sales.
• Demonstrated experience in B2B technical sales, account management, or business development of scientific or analytical instrumentation.

• Experience working with customers across relevant markets such as the chemical industry, universities, or government research organizations.
• Proven ability to understand customer applications, develop business opportunities, and manage the full sales cycle from opportunity identification through negotiation and closing.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization.
• Fluency in Korean and professional working proficiency in English, with the ability to travel within South Korea as required.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with FTIR, NIR, Raman, or other molecular spectroscopy technologies in a commercial, application, or technical capacity.
• Strong knowledge of spectroscopy applications and analytical workflows.
• Established customer relationships or industry networks within the Korean chemical, academic, or government research markets.
• Experience selling high-value scientific instrumentation or developing applications in areas such as advanced materials, semiconductors or chemical analysis.
